Bylaws and Policies

To help families, staff, and community members easily locate and reference our School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) policies, Mary E. Britton Middle School organizes all policies using a simple four-category numbering system. Each major category is assigned a number series, and individual policies within that category follow in sequence.

How the System Works

• 100 Series – Governance & Council Operations
  Policies that define how the SBDM Council functions, including bylaws, committees, consultations, scheduling, and budget responsibilities.

• 200 Series – Teaching, Learning & Assessment
  Policies related to curriculum, instruction, assessment practices, advanced courses, and alignment with state standards.

• 300 Series – School Operations & Staff Structures
  Policies that guide school operations, staff time, technology use, and emergency planning.

• 400 Series – Student Experience, Culture & Support
  Policies that support students’ well-being, safety, engagement, and overall school culture.
