Course description: Spanish 1 is an introductory course designed to develop students' foundational skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish. Using the Kentucky World Language Standards, students will engage in real-world communication while exploring cultural perspectives, practices, and products of Spanish-speaking communities. By the end of the course, students will be able to engage in basic conversations, understand familiar phrases, and express simple ideas in Spanish. Successful completion of this course may fulfill one high school world language credit.
Students will:
- Develop interpersonal communication skills through conversations, role-playing, and collaborative activities.
- Strengthen interpretive communication by listening to authentic materials and reading short texts.
- Build presentational communication skills through writing and speaking exercises.
- Explore cultural comparisons to deepen their understanding of global perspectives.
