Club details and information

Kentucky Youth Assembly (KYA)

The Kentucky Youth Assembly (KYA) at Mary E. Britton Middle School gives students the opportunity to engage in civic learning through hands-on participation in a simulated legislative process. Students research current issues, write legislation, and debate bills while learning how laws are proposed, discussed, and passed.

Through KYA, students develop skills in public speaking, critical thinking, collaboration, and respectful discourse. Members represent Britton at state-level conferences, gaining real-world experience in leadership and civic responsibility while building confidence and an understanding of government in action.

KYA is open to students interested in law, government, debate, or making a positive impact through informed advocacy.

Kentucky United Nations Assembly (KUNA)

The Kentucky United Nations Assembly (KUNA) at Mary E. Britton Middle School immerses students in global issues and international diplomacy through a United Nations simulation. Students represent assigned countries, research global challenges, and collaborate with peers to propose solutions through debate, negotiation, and resolution writing.

KUNA helps students strengthen research, writing, public speaking, and problem-solving skills while developing a deeper understanding of global interdependence and cultural perspectives. Participants attend state conferences where they work alongside students from across Kentucky in an authentic, engaging setting.

KUNA is ideal for students interested in world affairs, international relations, and leadership, and it supports Britton’s commitment to civic engagement and global awareness.
